Summary

What Search Earned

Organic search earned more Known revenue than last month, led by the category pages. The Modeled figure is an estimate, not a result.

What Changed

Four changes are listed on the Work and Results sheet. One is Verified, with a lift above its baseline; one had no effect.

What's Next

Refresh the pages that lost clicks and extend the guides that earned the most.

What a revenue-first report is

A revenue-first SEO report opens with what organic search earned for the client, then uses clicks, impressions and positions to explain it. It ends with the work that was done and whether it was verified. The order tells the client what mattered before it shows how it was measured.

The template fixes that order. Revenue comes first, as three separate rows. Search Console figures follow, then the pages, the work and its results, and next month. For what each section holds and how to word it, read the guide to an SEO report template.

Three kinds of revenue, never added

The Revenue sheet has one row for each kind, with its meaning beside it and a column for how you measured it. There is no total row.

Known
Measured directly and stored as the source reported it, with nothing estimated.
Influenced
Measured, but organic search was only one of the things that led to it.
Modeled
An estimate worked out from other figures, not a measurement; its inputs are named.

Adding the three would count a measured order and an estimate as the same thing. Keeping them apart lets the client see how much of the story is measured. How revenue gets its label is the subject of organic revenue attribution.

Verified changes, and nothing else

The Work and Results sheet lists each change with a status: Shipped, Being Measured, Verified or No Effect. A change that was published is not an outcome. The two Incremental Revenue columns, Low and High, are for Verified changes only, and a check beside them says so when either is filled for any other status.

The template does not decide that a change is Verified. You do, once you have compared the result with a baseline. Say how you measured it, and name the inputs behind any estimate in the Next Month sheet.

How to use the file

  1. Fill the shaded cells. Everything else is set up. Search figures come from Search Console, revenue from your client’s own store or analytics reports.

  2. Find pages losing clicks. The Pages sheet points to the free Content Decay Finder, which reads a Search Console export in your browser.

  3. Make it yours. The workbook is plain Excel, so it opens in Excel, Numbers and Google Sheets. Put your logo in the Report sheet. The last line of the Definitions sheet reads “Made with the free template at queryrev.com”; delete it if you like.

In the QueryRev App

The template is filled in by hand once a month. The app builds the report from connected data and goes on to the proof.
