Paid Search

Paid and organic search, measured together One revenue line for every search order, each kind labelled.

Paid Search in QueryRev AI puts Organic Search, Paid Search and AI Assistants revenue side by side, from your own orders, each line labelled. It shows where paid and organic overlap and who else bids, and it tests brand bids with a holdout before anyone calls a saving.

Revenue

Most stores see SEO and PPC in two reports that each claim the same orders. QueryRev reads both beside your store’s orders and keeps every figure in its own kind.

  • Three lines, each labelled

Organic Search, Paid Search and AI Assistants are separate lines, with ad cost beside Paid Search. Paid revenue carries the flag “Paid-attributed, not incremental”, and the total “Search + AI” adds figures of the same kind and stands beside the lines, never in their place. How the kinds differ is set out in Revenue Intelligence.

  • Overlap, with who else bids

For each query: your organic position and clicks, your paid clicks and cost, and the competitors QueryRev observed on the results page. A brand query where you rank at the top and nobody else bids reads very differently from one where three rivals sit above your organic link.

  • Paid terms as SEO candidates

Non-brand search terms that bring orders become evidence for the decision queue, labelled “paid-sourced evidence”. Brand and navigational terms are left out, because their paid conversion rate overstates the demand an ad creates.

  • AI Overviews, as Modeled

Ad reports do not separate clicks that came with AI Overviews, so QueryRev computes their effect on paid clicks from its own results-page observations against your click rates, and shows it as a modeled range with its inputs named.

Decision

QueryRev does not run your account. It proposes two kinds of change, each a typed decision with its evidence, and nothing changes until a person approves it under your policy.

  • Brand-bid holdout

Pause brand-keyword ads in a group of test regions, or in alternating weeks where regions cannot be split, with organic rank and competitor presence as the evidence. The plan is frozen at approval: the metric, the window, the design and a power check that says whether your order volume can answer the question.

  • Negatives from overlap

Add negative keywords where the overlap shows paid clicks that merely repeat your organic link and bring no orders, such as a returns or order-tracking query. Each one is a proposed change with a preview, an approval and a rollback.

  • In the Change Ledger

Both run through Governed Execution: your policy decides who approves, and the Change Ledger keeps the campaign’s state before and after, so re-enabling a campaign or removing a negative is one step.

Verified

A paused campaign is not a result. The holdout is read on total brand orders, paid and organic together, in the test regions against the control regions, and the answer comes with its interval.

Attributed is not incremental. An ad click on your own name is often a click your organic link would have had for free, so the revenue an ad platform reports for brand terms is not what the ads added. Paid revenue is labelled Incremental from a verified holdout and from nothing else, and the figure is always a range, because its baseline is one.

The result can go either way, and either way is useful. Brand ads whose incremental margin is more than they cost are kept, with the evidence; brand ads that add less are a finding for your team to act on. We test it and verify it on your orders. How a read is classified is set out in Verification.

What it is not

Paid search enters QueryRev as evidence. The tools that run ad accounts keep doing that; QueryRev measures what the work earns.

Your ad tool does

  • Sets bids, budgets and bid strategies
  • Builds campaigns, ad groups and ad copy
  • Manages Shopping feeds
  • Optimises the account with automated rules

Questions

Short answers up front. Ask anything else at business@queryrev.com.

Should I bid on my brand name?

It depends on whether competitors bid on it. Field studies found that a well-known brand with no rival ads lost almost no traffic when it stopped, while brands facing rival ads lost a large share of clicks to them. So test it with a holdout on your own orders instead of assuming either answer.

Does SEO cannibalize PPC?

Often it is the other way round: on your own brand name, an ad takes clicks your organic link would have had for free. On non-brand queries where you do not rank, paid clicks are mostly new. QueryRev shows the overlap query by query, with competitor presence, so the two are judged separately.

Can QueryRev manage my Google Ads campaigns?

No. QueryRev does not set bids or budgets, build campaigns or write ads. It reads your account as evidence and proposes just two kinds of change, a brand-bid holdout and negatives from overlap, each approved under your policy and kept in the Change Ledger.

How is organic vs paid search revenue measured?

From your store’s own orders, on three labelled lines: Organic Search, Paid Search and AI Assistants. Paid revenue carries the flag “Paid-attributed, not incremental”, ad cost stands beside it, and a total adds figures of the same kind and stands beside the lines.

How do AI Overviews affect paid search?

Ad reports do not separate clicks that came with an AI Overview, so QueryRev computes the effect from its own observations of the results page against your click rates, and shows it as a modeled range with its inputs named, never as a measured figure.
